Wtf: Author's Note for Black Edelweiss: Chapter Seven
I'm sharing this tidbit in a separate post so as the preserve the narrative integrity of my fic (yeah, right).
Over a year ago, when I wrote "Roach Motel" for the first ficathon, my sister was a big fan of the movie The Producers. Her favorite scene was the opening of the play, "Springtime For Hitler", with Torchwood's John Barrowman in the SS uniform (around 1:09ish, in the video below). We both agreed that he was disturbingly attractive.
One conversation about blue eyes and uniform fetishes later (the former I blame on
roachstar's layout of
ryanandesposito), the core concept was born around which the entire Zeitgeist 'verse was built: finding some context in which it would make sense to dress Kevin Ryan as a Nazi.
Which is pretty certifiable all on it's own, but there you go.

I just love tracking the meta process of my ideas. It's fun to be able to look at the results, then look at the initial spur and be able to laugh.
