I might need to change my phrasing on "not missing a beat". I use the word beat for pauses sometimes, so that didn't even occur to me. It's just supposed to be that her answer is kind of abrupt. Without giving anything away, it's probably not hard to imagine that Claire might have a problem with the fact that anyone she knows has to live with a prosthetic...

Incidentally, I had a faint chuckle re-reading the words "Claire clarified".
