Wtf: Realizing you've loved a song forever without having a clue what it was about...

...and then totally loving it more.

This was an old favorite when I was growing up. I must have heard it a billion times on MTV and the now sadly defunct KWOD. As much as I loved Blues Traveler, however, I was never fortunate enough to own any of their albums. Without the lyrics, it can be hard sometimes to know what a song is about. Usually you can get the gist, though. Usually, if it sounds like a love song it's usually a love song. This is often true even of quirky deconstructions like 311's "Hey You", which is a love song sung about music itself.

The wonders of YouTube have made it possible to explore a lot of old favorites, not just to listen to them, but to watch the old videos I remember but also through lyrics videos, to get a better idea of what is actually being sung.

Because I love to sing along when there's no one actually around to hear me...

A while back this song started playing on one of my Jango stations, and a while later I wanted to hear it again so zip to YouTube. And, as I read along to the song, I started cracking up.

So...yeah.

Oh, I know this song! It's very feel good. Like a sunny Sunday afternoon with a beer and good friends.

The album I remember loving and not understanding is Prince's Purple Rain. It came out when I was in the eighth grade and there are some adult themes that I just did not get back then! Even though I understood the words perfectly.
