Wtf: Three Reccs

A comic: The webcomic Artifice just ended. I've been wanting to recommend this for a while, but I've been burned by too many webcomics that have ended mid-story.

In case the name of the website (Yaoi911) is an issue, don't worry, this is done in a straight-up Western comics style. The color hold on all the line art annoys me a little, and I think some black inking would improve the depth greatly, but the art itself is consistent and clean. The story is short and sweet and full of angst (just like I like my men...erm, wait...).

It's a tale about...well, androids and gay love. Telling more would give away some of the plot.

(And do you really need more than that to get you to read it?)

One warning though: If you don't like ambiguous endings, don't read.

A fanfic: Guess what? [livejournal.com profile] _bluebells wrote an Ianpala fic! How awesome is that?

A movie: I'm still so ridiculously thankful to [livejournal.com profile] adja999 for recommending The Revenant. Anyone who has stuck around to read my LJ probably knows how freaking obsessed I am with the idea of self-aware zombies. This has that. This has that all over. It stars David Anders (a.k.a. Adam Monroe from Heroes) as a soldier named Bart. When Bart dies in Iraq he gets shipped back to L.A. for burial and finds himself waking up to...not a nice situation. With the help of his stoner friend, Joey, he tries to deal with his new undead state, mostly through trial and error. Eventually they realize an unfortunate fact: feeding on human blood is the only way to keep Bart from decomposing. Their solution...

I'm not going to say more, other than that this flick watches like Shaun of the Dead meets The Boondock Saints. It's just...funny, and angsty, and horrifying, and gross, and ridiculous, and actiony, and sad, and surprisingly tender all at the same time. And David Anders has all those feels.

(God his face is just so expressive in this movie. That shit can't be easy when you're wearing white contacts the entire time.)

It's just... See it. Seeitseeitseeitseeit.

A fanfic: WHee!! Thanks for rec-ing it. It's awesome. ^^

A movie: Awww... I'm so glad I got it right. I thought it was pretty cool, plus, you know. David Anders. Period. ^^

A comic: IT'S AWESOME!!

I love the drawing style of it. The premice (correct spelling?) is very intelligent. And the end? I actually didn't expect that, I was wondering what would happen.
This actually reminds me of the end of Angel, the series, in a way. :)
