You have blanket permission for idea borrowing.
As long as credit is given when necessary (and for roleplay, I personally don't even think it is), I've always been of the opinion that creative ideas exist to breed more creative ideas. I always feel like my best ideas are three mental steps away from something I never could have come up with on my own.
After all, I plan on ripping bits of your Matt and Maya ficlets if I ever manage to get this series that far. ;)
