Title: Vasa Jijri ("Under the Skin")
Fandoms: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Fantasy, Family, Angst
Warnings: Racism, threats of racially motivated violence, mildly violent bullying, religious drug use, non-consensual drug-use, under-aged drug use, accidental poisoning, harm to children.
Details: Gen, pre-canon, prequel, fantasy, magic, demons, Faustian deals, tragic love, family, cultural differences, distant fathers, questionable parenting decisions, anthropomorphic animals, fantasy racism, angst, lies and deception, stealth crossover, unbetad.
Characters/Pairings: OCs, Frida, Fruki, Skald the Elder, Dro'marash, Bulfrek, mentions of others.
Wordcount: 31,937
Summary: The father he had never met had left him with a Breton name. Growing up in Dawnstar, his mother's people had bestowed the ignoble kenning of "Honeymilk". His mother's friends among the Khajiit caravans outside the city called him ja'ahn kriniit, which in Ta'agra meant "laughing boy". But the caravan leader, Ri'yaan, had always called him ahzi' ja'ahn—"my boy"—and when he was young, it was this name he had loved best.
(The story of a half-Nord boy growing up in Dawnstar, and his friendship with the Khajiit of the caravans.)
Notes: The Dragonborn does not appear in this story, nor does it have anything to do with the main quest.
Also, I know that "Kevin" is a really weird name for the Elder Scrolls 'verse. I originally set out to write a fusion fic with the TV series Castle, and this story grew out of trying to conceive a background for one of that show's characters. Other than that detail, this fic is rooted pretty firmly in Tamriel, so you don't need to know anything about Castle to understand this story. I kept the name because I do plan to finish that story someday, though by now the character is practically unrecognizable...
Finally, I use a reconstruction of Ta'agra (the Khajiit language), which is based primarily on canon and near-canon sources. Two exceptions to this are the words "vasa" and "jijri" (used in the title) which are neither, nor do they belong to me. They appear among a list of Ta'agra vocabulary that can be found in several Elder Scrolls sites online, which mixes fanon words with those from canon sources. This makes it difficult to know where they originally came from, but they were likely created by a fan-mod or RP community somewhere.
(More notes at the end.)

(Fic) Fools Rush In

Title: Fools Rush In
Series: Quis Custodiet
Fandom: Castle, Supernatural (no canon knowledge necessary).
Genre: Angst, Mystery, Supernatural
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Cliffhanger.
Details: Slash, genre!crack, crossover, case!fic, AU, blasphemy, mythology abuse, spoilers.
Characters/Pairings: Castle―pre-Kevin Ryan/Javier Esposito, mentions of Kevin/Jenny and Javier/Lanie. Kate Beckett, Richard Castle. Supernatural―Bobby Singer, Claire Novak, Amelia Novak, mentions of others.
Wordcount: 10,532
Summary: When Javier Esposito went missing and the body of an unidentified woman was found in his apartment, Detective Kevin Ryan refused to believe the worst of his partner. Now, with the case threatening to go cold, he has embarked on his own investigation, determined to uncover the truth.
Notes: Early season 4 for Castle, and AU for season 6 of Supernatural, so spoilers up to there. Part of the "Quis Custodiet" AU crossover 'verse. Takes place a couple months after "'Aloha' Doesn't Mean 'Goodbye'" (SupernaturalxHawaii Five-0), but stands alone. In fact, I think this story is much better if read first.
Written for the July Ficathon on [livejournal.com profile] ryanandesposito.

Chapter One - Chapter Two - Chapter Three - Chapter Four - Epilogue
black_sluggard: (ryan and esposito)
Title: Of Mice and Men
Fandoms: Castle, Fables
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Angst, Fantasy, Humor, Romance
Details: Slash, genre!crack, AU, crack, unsolicited crossover, fairy tales, talking animals, author insanity, shades of "omfg what did I just write?", unbetad.
Characters/Pairings: Castle—Javier Esposito/Kevin Ryan, Kate Beckett. Fables—Bigby Wolf, Frau Totenkinder, Reynard, Rose Red, Bagheera, others. OCs.
Wordcount: 30,178
Summary: In which a city mouse visits the country, which predictably leads to trouble and (in no particular order) revelations, relations and reciprocation; a funeral and a shotgun wedding; and Javier almost gets eaten by a panther.
Notes: A crossover with the comic Fables. This was done for [livejournal.com profile] adja999 for [livejournal.com profile] ryanandesposito's Secret Santa Fic Exchange. I apologize for crossing with a fandom you probably don't even read, but this was honestly the only thing my muse wanted to run with.
Fortunately, Fables draws its characters from fairy tales and similar stories, so they should at least be familiar in that context. On the off chance anyone happens to be familiar with Fables, this takes place before (i.e. blatantly ignores) the "Dark Ages" arc.

Prologue: Once Upon a Time...
(...which introduces characters we don't know, characters we only think we know, and characters we do know whom we may not recognize.)
Chapter One: Curiouser and Curiouser
(In which Javier experiences guilt, denial and car trouble, and a black panther is poorly substituted for a white rabbit.)
Chapter Two: Fish, Ponds, and Things of That Sort
(Which concerns a long-overdue reunion where awkwardness is mostly a matter of scale.)
Chapter Three: The Sky Is Falling
(In which everyone does their best, but nothing makes sense and there really isn't any time for proper explanations.)
Chapter Four: A Marriage of Inconvenience
(In which further questions are raised, most of which are not answered, but even then Javier is quick to sense when things start going rapidly downhill...)
Chapter Five: Small Talk
(Which contains shoe dropping of all sizes, and related puns become completely unavoidable.)
Chapter Six: Relatively Relative
(In which proper introductions take place, and it's all painfully civil—though just as painfully embarrassing.)
Chapter Seven: Hare Trigger
(In which a second kiss proves even more disarming than the first, magic animals discuss gay marriage, and Kevin is given some heavy food for thought.)
Chapter Eight: Trial or Error?
(In which a third kiss decides whether or not a fourth will seal the deal.)
Chapter Nine: Holy Matri-moley
(In which Javier's life flashes before his eyes...which, given the existence of talking panthers is probably long overdue.)
Epilogue: ...Happily Ever After?
(In which matters may not be resolved as easily as anyone believes...)

Title:  Sui Generis
Series: Genus
Fandom: Castle
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Horror, Sci-fi, Romance.
Warnings: Possible squick, non-sexual content skirting dub-con
Reverse Warnings: Whatever certain scenes or warnings might lead one to believe, this fic contains neither mpreg nor naughty tentacles. I promise.
Details: Pre-slash, AU, genre!crack, angst, body horror, mood whiplash, insanity (not the characters', mine), starfish aliens, unbetad.
Characters/Pairings: Castle―pre-Javier Esposito/Kevin Ryan, Kevin/Jenny, Richard Castle.
Wordcount: 14,909
Summary: Javier confessed never expecting Kevin to believe him. Kevin didn't, but somehow, things still wound up spiraling frighteningly out of control...
Details: I began this prior to the episode "Heartbreak Hotel", so it kind of hinges on Jenny not being ridiculous enough to deny her future husband his best man...
I partially blame [info]start_to_stop for this fic. Their alien!Jenny fic was just so awesome I had to play with my own personal plot smeerp. Don't expect anything approaching normal here. Of course, because I am incapable of writing a concept without taking it seriously, this is yet another attempt at crack that devolved into something else. This time xeno and body horror. For those of you who liked "Evidence to the Contrary" and "Quality of Life", here's more of the same type of bizarre weirdness... Only kind of even more so. *sigh* I need to stop letting my undiagnosed brain tumor write my fics for me.

Chapters: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 5.5 - 6 - 7

Title: Quality of Life
Series: Life
Fandoms: Castle
Rating: NC-17
Genre: Horror, Angst, Romance (and Hurt/Comfort...I guess?)
Warnings: Jesus, where do I even begin with this fic? Slash, AU, genre!crack, unbetad (all par, for me). OCs. Dark-ish. Horror elements that may squick some people. Themes allegorical of disability, prejudice, terminal illness, and mental illness.
Also, porn lives here when it very probably shouldn't given the subject matter. It's probably more disturbing than it is hot... Some vore in there. Kinda. A little bit. Okay, a lot. If you know what that is good for you, if not I direct you back to the warnings about horror and squick. Very mild BDSM (totally on accident, but it happened).
Characters/Pairings: Javier Esposito/Kevin Ryan, Kevin/Jenny, Richard Castle, Kate Beckett.
Wordcount: 14,592
Summary: He didn't always sleep, but that night he did. He even managed to dream. He dreamt sick, guilty dreams about his partner's horrified face, and how Jenny's long blonde hair would be the most perfect handhold to keep her still as he tore the flesh from her pretty cheek.
Details: There's...really no excusing this fic. I really shouldn't be allowed to write fanfiction when this is what I do with it. I'm aware I have issues. This fic displays most of them. So, here's a screwed up little AU fic for you...

Part One/Part Two
black_sluggard: (Danno)
Title: 'Aloha' Isn't Really 'Goodbye'
Fandom: Hawaii Five-0, Supernatural.
Genre: Angst, supernatural, pre-slash.
Rating: PG-13
Details: Pre-slash, genre!crack, AU, blasphemy, mild language.
Characters/Pairings: Hawaii Five-0
Pre-Danny Williams/Steve McGarrett, Grace Williams. Supernatural—Castiel, Sam and Dean Winchester.
Wordcount:
Summary: There was always the threat that Five-0 would be torn apart if the threat of war recalled one of their number to active service. Unfortunately, Steve's military obligations were the least of there concerns.
Notes: AU for both series. That statement is a no-brainer as far as Five-0 is concerned, but this fic also disregards season 6 of Supernatural. I haven't seen many episodes of Hawaii Five-0, and they weren't all in order, so I have no idea where in season one this would fit. Obviously pre-finale, but considering the plot, it probably doesn't matter in the long run.
This story is part of the "Quis Custodiet" multi-crossover 'verse, but stands alone. While it is the first story chronologically, I suggest reading "
Fools Rush In" first if you are a Castle fan, because several elements revealed in this story are detrimental to the suspense of the second, but either can be read first.

Chapter Two
Chapter Three

black_sluggard: (Zeitgeist)
Title: Black Edelweiss
Series: Zeitgeist
Follows: One Giant Leap
Fandoms: Castle, Heroes.
Rating: R
Genre: Sci-fi, Suspense, Angst, case fic (if you squint).
Warnings: References to vivisection, torture, human experimentation, September 11th, and the Holocaust.
Details: Pre-slash, crossover, AU, genre-crack, angst, character focus slanted by shameless author bias, interpretation of minor characters bordering on OCs, angst, blatant denial of canon character deaths, questionable character deconstruction (to say the least), "morally grey", canon abuse, time travel, and angst.
Wordcount: 113k+
Characters/Pairings: Castle—ensemble, Ryan/Esposito pre-slash. Heroes—Noah, Angela, Tracy, Hiro, Peter, Sylar, mention of various others. Allusions to characters from NCIS.
Summary: Two weeks after Claire Bennet's televised leap from the Ferris wheel, the 12th handles it's first case delving into the strange world of specials. Evidence points the investigation toward a former Company Agent, a man Noah Bennet would swear up and down doesn't exist.
Notes: Takes place post-series for Heroes, and post- Nikki Heat and Knockdown for Castle. Takes place after my story "One Giant Leap" (for a given value of "after").
I'm fudging the timeline of both shows a bit, but specifically for Heroes, assuming a longer period of time between Volume 3 and 4, and that the series finale, Brave New World, took place in early December of 2010.
Disclaimer: Slash, superpowers and Nazis.
And while it seems almost a waste of time to disclaim this, no, I am not in any way a supporter of Nazi ideals, white supremacy or the Third Reich. I'm just an insane history-loving sci-fi nerd, and I like to acknowledge that Nazis, despite having been human beings moved by human desires, are one of the most universally one-dimensional characters in all of fiction, and wanted to present one that wasn't...
Remember, it's a crossover with Heroes , where things are almost always a bit "morally grey".
That said, there's enough wrong with this whole story for you to hate me, regardless. If for no other reason than because "empathic mimicry" is a horrible cop-out of a power, and is a horrendous plot device even when Peter had it.
This is without a doubt the most psychotic story idea I've ever conceived of, and I apologize in advance to anyone who actually reads this. Castle fans most especially.
Title is borrowed from the memoir by Johann Voss (which I haven't read, I just thought it fit).

Title: Evidence to the Contrary
Series: Evidence
Fandom: Castle
Rating:  R
Genre:   Horror, Romance, Angst
Characters/Pairing: Javier Esposito/Kevin Ryan, Richard Castle, Kate Beckett, Roy Montgomery.
Warnings:  Slash, adult content, genre!crack (mild horror), themes touching on mental illness and consent issues, unbetad.
Wordcount:  15,657
Summary: "Ah, Kev, I expect this crap from Castle, like when he got bit by our 'vampire'," Esposito favored him with full air quotes, "Or when he was convinced he got cursed by a mummy, but c'mon, you're smarter than that."
Disclaimer: Written for this prompt on

[livejournal.com profile] castlekink
When I say this story is "genre!crack", I mean that plot seems somewhat cracky when applied to the fandom in question. If this were a Buffy or Supernatural fic, no one would bat an eye.  Also, I swear this fic was funny when I originally came up with the idea. Seriously, everything I touch turns into angst...

Title:  Roach Motel:  A Postmodern Tale of Slashy Goodness
Fandom: Castle
Genre: Romance, Angst
Rating/Warnings: T/PG-13 (possibly R-level swearing), slash
Characters/pairings: Ryan/Esposito, Raley/Ochoa, Castle, Beckett, Lanie Parish, Nikki Heat.
Summary: Heat Wave has been a big success. However, fan interpretation of two of the book's minor characters leaves Detectives Ryan and Esposito both a little concerned... (Two slash fics for the price of one! Written for the [info]ryanandesposito ficathon.)
Spoilers: Major for Den of Thieves, possible minor spoilers for seasons 1 and 2 up to and including Overkill.
Author's Note: I know I'm not the only one to ever have come up with this idea, and I've read a few well written stories based on the same premise. But I've had this idea in my head since Heat Wave came out, and I just had to do it my way. This was originally meant to be an angst fic during the Roach segments only, keeping the Ryan/Esposito relationship relatively light. Didn't happen. Hope it's still good.  It's my first slash fic, and my first completed multichapter fic.  Booyah.

Thanks to betas [info]foolish_m0rtal and [info]justaotherwitch, and my sister [info]bad_catty , who doesn't watch the show but ships Ryan/Esposito anyway.

Dedicated to my grandmother, with whom I watch Castle religiously every week. And who will, hopefully, never find out how I choose to express my enjoyment of the show. :)

Prologue (Which, Being About a Prologue, Is Somewhat Recursive)
Chapter One (In Which Life Begins to Imitate Art)
Chapter Two (Which Is Also Technically "Chapter One")
Chapter Three (In Which Art Painfully Imitates Life)
Chapter Four (Which Begins With Angst, And Ends With an Incredibly Lazy Pun)
Chapter Five (In Which Attempts at Recrimination Turn Into Self-Incrimination)
Chapter Six (In a Backward Analogy, Things Left to Steep Are Heated to a Boil)
Chapter Seven (In Which Esposito Finally Cuts to the Chase)
