So, my Image Manipulation teacher likes to talk about certain assignments ahead of time, which is cool because you can make thematic plans ahead of time, which helps with the overall quality of the end result. Unfortunately, she also has a habit of being very not clear about what projects are actually our homework and which we're going to be working on the following week.

So last week, I arrived in class convinced that our tutorial teaching presentations were our midterm project...and was very, very wrong. Thankfully, the good thing about it being a presentation project was that everyone was doing their presentations that day. So I actually had the time grab an older illustration off of my deviantArt and jam through a tutorial I'd read multiple times, but never had the chance to utilize (because I've primarily used GIMP in the past, not Photoshop) to create material for a presentation on coloring with photo filter layers.

If I'd been coloring it just to color it, I wouldn't have been as sloppy with the wings, and it would have an actual background (...maybe), but I quite like how it turned out anyway. I actually received a very good grade on it. The teacher only deducted half a point for working on it during the other students' presentations. I gotta say it's more generous than I would've been in her place...

ETA: Oh, and I got a reply on another freelancing job for RPG art. If this works out well, I'm totally buying myself some new userpic space...
