I've begun to believe that Fanfiction.Net is the devil. No, seriously...

Anyway. That said, I do like the new "book cover" option it has to upload images to represent individual fics. They're teeny-tiny-thumbnail sized, but still, I'm a sucker for graphics, so this lead me to create book cover images for my series. They're mostly ripped off from the banners I already have here, but I did a little more work on the one for Zeitgeist than I expected to do. I'm planning to go back and remake that one in a larger size, and it'll probably replace the picture I have on the masterpost when I do.

For your viewing pleasure:

(Obvious reuse of images is obvious. I'll find another Ryan pic for Zeitgeist later.)

Also, I've created a banner for Of Mice and Men, but to incentivize myself into actually finishing the next chapter of it, I'm not going to allow myself to show it to anybody until it's done.

And I've made the first necessary moves toward changing my major. I can't do it this quarter because I'm not in "good academic standing" (i.e. because I got depressed and screwed myself last quarter), but since this quarter has been doing okay, I should be eligible come the quarter that follows. Animation seemed like a decent idea when it was proposed to me, but the more I hung out with students in the film program, and the more I really thought about it, animation was never going to be my route toward the kind of storytelling I wanted. And any "settle me" jobs would likely involve sitting in front of a computer doing technical work. And while working in effects held the potential to be awesome... Honestly, computer technology is neat and all, but I'm really a die hard fan of practical effects. Sure, the computer is great for integrating it all, and there are some things you could never do with models and animatronics, but the fact is that CG just doesn't yet have the capability of creating that indispensable weight needed for horror. It's a quality important to other genres as well, but horror especially.

If you can't believe in it, it's not going to scare you.

So...that's my shortly-long-termish plan: switching my major to film production. I had a minor freak out when I made the appointment to talk to the Academic adviser for Animation and Game Design, and spent ever second of said freak out being embarrassed at myself. Because it's the irrational kind of panic attack that you realize is irrational. I had a class with the director my first quarter, and she's the most harmless, laid back geek pixie ever. Seriously. To best communicate the level of ridiculousness, it's like being intimidated by Charlie Bradbury.

So...that.
