There are movies of the books (kind of) with that guy from Highlander... That might help.
Might not. The series was seriously weird. Basic premise: All of humanity from across history is brought back to life on an alien planet and given effective immortality for unknown reasons. The second novel is actually told from the point of view of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain).
