I made a list of some of my favorite police-themed slash fiction. Or, at least, my favorite slash fics involving police characters. Compiled for
cop_slash, but I thought I'd post it here, too, for anyone who was interested.
Castle (Kevin Ryan/Javier Esposito)
Why I like the pairing: The two detectives are like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of slash. They seem almost to have been written with it in mind, from the way they're always standing together in an exit-stage-left sort of way, to the built-in ship name ("Roach") written for their story-withing-a-story fictional counterparts in the tie-in novel.
Even Ryan's character blog on ABC's website is rife with subtext. "I'm with you 'til the wheels fall off"? The writers just make it so damned easy...

Psych (Carlton Lassiter/Shawn Spencer)
Why I like the pairing: They're like the proverbial unstoppable force and immovable object. The ultimate odd-couple. At the same time, the weirdly Oedipal mixture of Shawn's daddy issues with Lassiter's profession adds a touch of guilty pleasure to the mix. And then there's that sticky issue of how Shawn has been conning the Santa Barbra Police Department for several years...

Law & Order: SVUxOz (crossover) (Elliot Stabler/Tobias Beecher)
Why I like the pairing: One word--contrast. You have the contrast of a cop and a criminal, the contrast of Toby rebuilding his life after Oz while Elliot's divorce is tearing his apart. There is also the unusual element, when addressed, of Stabler's uncanny resemblance to Toby's lost lover.

Stabler/Beecher was always sort of a "holy grail" ship for me, dating all the way back to my parents letting me watch Oz when I was way too young and impressionable. I saw Beecher and Keller kiss and, though I didn't realize it then, I was ruined for life. :D
Heroes (Matt Parkman/Mohinder Suresh)
Why I like the pairing: In season two, the writers set up the situation of Matt and Mohinder sharing an apartment and taking care of the little girl they both saved in the previous season. Which was tantamount to serving up the fluffiest pairing ever on a silver plate like eggs and bacon arranged as a smiley face. Add to that the fact that Parkman is a telepath, and you can't help but let the dirty thoughts fly. Though, since the series is a sci-fi drama rather than a crime series, the fact that Parkman is a detective usually becomes incidental. It's been a while since I read this pairing, and I didn't have any bookmarks, but here are a few that stood out in memory.

NCIS (Tony DiNozzo/Tim McGee)
Why I like the pairing: I'm new to NCIS fandom, but McNozzo seems to be a darkhorse pairing next to Gibbs/DiNozzo. Which is really a shame because there's so much to work with here. A lot of fun contrast with DiNozzo's experience and laid-back attitude and McGee's green-yet-competant work and his somewhat awkward personality. Between the two of them there's plenty of room for almost any flavor of fic, from angst to fluff. Not to mention the hazing that often borders on sexual harassment. Tony posed as a girl online and made Tim fall in love with "her". How's that for "practically canon"?
