So, what have I done with myself in that time? Well, I've:
*Despite the removal of net-based distractions, I've failed to keep up my self imposed schedule in trying to get specific Interludes for Black Edelweiss posted on time. Which means that the serendipitous posting of St. Paddy's Day related history was not posted on St. Paddy's Day (which doesn't really matter) and I probably won't get certain other fics done by dates that do.
*Got a new laptop, which was a blessing and a curse, as while it is wonderful to have something that can run multiple programs at once and not explode on me, most of my multitasking was internet based, so I still really only ever had OpenOffice open at any particular time.
*Carted said laptop on public transit Tuesday. Was nice having a laptop light enough to take to school with me, and I was salivating at the thought of guiltlessly spending time on the net without taking up space in the labs... Sadly, I could not figure out how to utilize campus wi-fi. Wound up watching the end of Puss in Boots with the other animation students instead.
Changed my schedule for next quarter to account for having failed all the classes I took this quarter for one reason or another. Yay me.
Oh, and the train home was filled with vomit.
*Hosted myself an impromptu Rankin/Bass marathon. The Last Unicorn, The Hobbit then The Return of the King. I didn't quite get to The Flight of Dragons, since I was saving it for last. Might finish up. Still need to watch it and The Wind in the Willows. The others I've seen dozens of times more recently, but I probably haven't touched that last one since I was ten.
*I'm supposed to be writing a future!fic/time-travel fic of The Walking Dead (similar to One Giant Leap) for
twd_kinkmeme. Instead, I wound up making Sims of the entire cast as "research" into building their little survival town. "Research" devolved into watching Glenn and Daryl WooHoo.
*Plagiarizing myself with another TWD plot bunny. Writing Shane as something that isn't-quite-exactly-but-more-or-less-similar-to a post-vital. Because I feel some men could probably be vastly improved by suffering (and quasi-undeath). Had trouble deciding where to go with it. Rick Shane and Lori are a problem for me. Part of what makes me love Rick is the love he has for his wife, but I despise Lori. Shane is an asshole, a murderer, and an attempted rapist, but I still like him better than Lori.
The difficulty I had was this: I was going to kill off Lori, no question. But while I hadn't planned on making it a slash fic, once she's gone, is there any reason not to write it as Rick/Shane? I mean, I haven't read much of them, but I've pretty much shipped them from the pilot... Still unsure.
*Finally had something worth posting, but no way to post it. I'll likely do a post on my genius sister's show cake taking 2nd place at a later date (with pictures of her and other incredibly fancy cakes she took at the show in San Diego).
*Had key points of the TWD episode I missed spoiled for me by said genius sister.
*Rewatched season 3 of Dexter. I'd forgotten how much I loved Deborah. I really missed her potty-mouth. My list of what I call "technical bisexual exceptions" is a pretty short one, and she's kind of right at the top of it. Christ but she's hot when she swears. XD
*Started playing Fallout: New Vegas again. One day I will write all the slash of my crazy tribal and his efforts to get into the pants of every Ranger, Trooper, Follower, King's member, prostitute, Ganger, Khan, and Gun Runner in the Mojave.
Er, and his occasional dalliance with Beatrix Russel. He has an odd soft spot for ghouls...
*And now that I've got (some) net again, I'm wading through all my old mails. There were 900+ of them accumulated over the entirety of my time offgrid. Finally got it down to 125. Oy.
I'm sure I've missed a few things. Whatever. I'm not going to do a daily post any more, though. I'm using shitty dialup for the nonce, and just to get through my mail is hard enough. Fic might happen, though. Hopefully fic shall still happen...
