This has been up on youtube for a while now, but I figured I'd post this and the Zeitgeist video in their own post so they can be commented on here rather than having to brave the scary shores of tube-space.
Huh. I couldn't get this one to work on LJ. Same problem as the other one - music plays fine, but the video doesn't move. But I managed to back into it by copying the embed URL and stripping out the gunk, then watching it on YouTube. Where I gave it a like!
I like the song, clips are good, but I kept trying to figure out if this was part of Black Edelweiss or a different fic I haven't read yet.

Life's kind of a weird series. The first one crept up on me while I was writing a Halloween-themed fic for a holiday ficathon (all 14k words and change of it). And it wasn't until I finished it, went back to finish the other one and came back for a re-read that I realized how intensely personal it was.
By then it was kind of weird, because I never expected anyone to touch it, but it has become one of the most commented stories I've written. And it's since spawned this whole crazy AU that wants to drag other fandoms into it (there's even a very weird Sylar/Peter bunny that wants to come into being).
Of all my stories, there are two that seem most loved - one of which came from me trying to work out some psychological issues with ... well, rape, confinement, being trapped and gaslighted.
Initially when I started writing it, I didn't intend to publish. Just wanted it out of my head.

When I wrote Life, I wasn't aware of how strongly it reflected my experiences surrounding my father's stroke. Which can't help but strike me as being really blind in hindsight, given the fact that Javier spends the larger part of the fic strapped to a hospital bed half out of his mind, and the next half struggling to come to terms with the mental changes afterward (which is essentially, though never explicitly said to be, just a very bizarre form of brain damage).
After I finished my Halloween story I came back and read it and was surprised that I had a. written it without seeing that, b. written it and posted it, c. turned family drama into porn, and d. found an appreciative audience.

Because my fic doesn't lean toward the bizarre so much as invade its space and make bizarre feel vaguely uncomfortable...

And... Yeah. I don't know.

It was a very strange experience.
