I finished my essay, which is mostly a rambling piece of garbage, but hopefully, it should at least stabilize my grade. I just need to get it proofread (since it's past 12:30 at night here, my sister's said she'll do it in the morning). I just hope that "morning" occurs some time prior to noon, because, again, the instructor did not have to extend this second chance to me (and in fact, was not even asked to), and I'm sure the sooner it is in for him to grade before he has to submit scores on Monday, the better mood he'll have about it.
So, yeah. Writing a final essay in less than forty-eight hours has been...an experience. Fortunately, I managed to grab a subject I'm reasonably familiar with.
As much as people like to joke about my love of zombies, one of my constant passions has actually always been faeries, specifically the dark kind from traditional folklore. My essay was about Brian Froud, who can be considered a driving force behind the revival of traditional portrayals of the fae. So, the essay (rambling piece of garbage) is mostly about the Victorians loved faeries like the internet loves zombies, and the bowdlerization of faerie myth that rose out of the Industrial Revolution, and how in the mid 1970s the renewed interest in fantasy by adult readers spurred by the popularity of The Lord of the Rings lead to the creation of Froud's art book, Faeries.
Which is awesome. If you ever get a chance to peer through it, I absolutely would recommend it, because Froud's art is amazing. My sister owns a copy, and I've kind of stolen it, and I've probably read it more than a dozen times.
So, I'm...noticably less coherent than I usually am. I think I'm brain fried. Gonna sleep some and hope the rest goes according to plan. I'll probably post the essay some time after its graded.
You know, with all the other rambling pieces of garbage. ;)
