Wtf: A Letter to the Muse of Questionable Fic Ideas

So, I don't usually do tumblr, but I found this page and it ate more of my time than I really like to think about.

That's...not really relevant to the rest of this post, but they're fucking precious, so I just had to share.

Dear Muse,

I was very happy getting chapters of "Black Edelweiss" done, and your cooperation in completing the most recent chapter of "Of Mice and Men" was a welcome surprise, and I thank you very much for both. However, not that I dislike the idea of continuing the "A Once and Future Thing" series, but it's not my priority at this time. Also, I'm not quite sure where I'll even be able to post this story when it's finished, since the rest of the series toes the line between crossover and fusion, and this isn't really either one. Not that Riddick and Vaako don't make for an incredibly sexy pair, mind you, it's just not what those who have enjoyed the other entries in the series will be interested in, and I feel I should be working on other things at the moment.

Also, while, yes, I would very much like to write a sequel to "Sui Generis" at some point, your recent suggestions have been less than helpful, since I already had three conflicting possibilities for where that universe was headed, and now I don't know what the fuck to do. So thanks for that.

Also, I would like to point your attention back to the "Reverse Warnings" section of that fic's header, where I specifically stated that the fic would not involve mpreg or tentacles (there were tentacles alluded to, but they were not present in the fic). Since two of the ideas with which you've seen fit to provide me center on those things individually, I am not certain what you really want me to do there. The first does have the potential for a lot of sweet, sweet angst, but I feel the direction in which you would have me pursue--specifically the themes of betrayal and abortion--would force the story into territory that is way too dark for me, and potentially even make the relationship between the characters unworkable.

As for the second, while I'm not opposed to tentacle porn in principle, I feel that any sex scene which culminates in the absolute destruction of one of the characters in any recognizable form is probably a step farther than I should probably ever go. Unless you see fit to provide me with a solution to that stalemate, I really don't see this idea as being useable.

As well, please consider the two other previously extant fic ideas, and the things I was very fond of in each one. At the very least, you could be considerate enough to find a way to merge a few of these possible branchings of the story so that I could possibly keep at least a few of them. If you could devote just a little to the time in your busy schedule toward finding a way to resolve these conflicts, I would sincerely appreciate it.

We've worked very well together in the past, and I would absolutely love to continue our working relationship, but if that is to be the case, you will certainly need to tighten up your performance just a little.

My muse has been on hiatus this week, too, for the most part. Maybe our muses are both at a muse convention and will come back refreshed and invigorated?

The problem really isn't that the muse has been on hiatus as the muse has been throwing out a ton of material I'm not even sure I can use. :/

It's not AWOL so much as ADD...possibly on LSD. There's no other explanation for scribbling out four pages of notes for tentacle porn fic out of exactly nowhere.

(Not that it's entirely beyond the pale for the specific fic in mind, I'm just not sure that's the direction I want to be headed with it...)
