So it's that time of year again. For those who don't know, November is NaNoWriMo (or National Novel Writer's Month), in which the annual challenge is to write 50,000 words in 30 days (roughly the length of a novel).

I tried NaNo once, years back. Like...maybe eight or nine years ago. I think I barely got two thousand words in before I gave up. I think I've matured a lot as a writer since then, but I'm still undecided about whether to participate this year.

Since it is now November 1st, I have to make my decision. I don't do well with decisions. If I did, I would probably want to try to write that original story for Slice of Life that I've been talking about off and on for the past few months, and have expanded upon more in another post.

I'm...unfortunately going to have that time on my hands anyway. But how do I use it?

Screw it, I won't be losing anything by doing this.

My vote comes with the caveat that you should only do it as long as it seems fun, and if the time constraint or just working on the one thing gets too crazy-making don't feel bad about canceling out and doing whatever you want at whatever pace you want.

Hell, I participated for five years from 2004 to 2008 and ended up giving up (quite happily) on all but the one that I won.
