I accomplished practically nothing this week in terms of actual writing. Which sucks in general, and double-sucks so far as it concerns my participation in almosthumanbang. Not ready to give up quite yet (there's still more than a few months to go), but I find my enthusiasm with the story waning, and that concerns me.
Secondary Fics
Zeitgeist: Five Years Gone: Really just a paragraph or so of wordcount (so concrete progress, I suppose, however small), plus an expansion of the outline.
Wordcount: 7,251
Outline: 3,277
The only really "constructive" thing I accomplished this week was creating a photomanipulation of Castiel from Supernatural as a balam (a type of wesen from Grimm). I did this as a random act of fandom kindness for an author on AO3 who wrote a fusion with this as part of its premise. Balam aren't one of the common wesen choices for fic writers to use (most go with blutbaden or fuchsbaue or something else more prominently featured on the show). The choice intrigued me, and I told the author as much.
They very innocently commented along the lines of "I need to get someone to draw it for me..."
And because I'd had so much fun maniping the characters from Castle for my own crossover, I went ahead and did them the favor. :)

Unfortunately, I haven't really been in much of a mood to work on my own Grimm fics of late. The last episode really bummed me the hell out. I thought the whole thing was handled poorly. If they absolutely had to take Wu's character in the direction they did, I really wish they would have said more about the consequences.
Like how Hank was totally right about how they should have handled it, how he should be pissed as hell at Nick for how it turned out, and what the fuck does Renard think about the fact that he has, in all probability, lost one of his officers for good? But at the end of the episode they didn't seem to be acknowledging the fuck up there.
Seriously... I mean, really, this guy—who is not just a co-worker, but supposedly Hank's friend—is in a mental institution because they didn't invite him into their little club. I mean, I understand them questioning it up to that point, but after they burst into the room and saved Wu from the aswang would it have killed Nick or Hank to say those three little words ("You're not crazy!")?
I mean, if you want to make the argument that there was special trauma involved for him (because of his childhood horror stories, his friend's involvement, and how gruesome the attack was), then fine, but if that's the way you're going to play it, you should at least say as much. What the fuck, writers?
TL;DR: Wu deserved better, and Hank deserved the chance to say "I told you so".
