Every now and then my brain comes up with an idea so bizarre even I wouldn't touch it. Case in point: Earlier today, my brain threw out the idea of combining two of my fic 'verses into one. How you ask?
(or for the sake of this entry, I assume you do)
Ages ago I wrote this story called Free Fall, told from Jenny's point of view, where Javier wound up in a coma for two weeks after being pushed off of a fire escape. A lot of people said I should continue it past its ambiguous ending, but I really couldn't think of anything else to do with it.
I'm not really good with the serious drama, that's why I write zombies and shit...
Anyway, looking back at some of my old fics, I could imagine if I had written a continuation it would probably read a lot like Quality of Life. Er, you know...minus the cannibalistic nightmares. And don't ask me how, but the thought occurred to me out of nowhere...
What if the Life 'Verse itself took place in Javier's head while he was in that coma?
I very briefly considered actually writing this story, Javier waking from his difficult but happy life as a post-vital...to pain in the hospital bed, and Kevin's still with Jenny, and their entire relationship was just a dream. But then life begins to echo fantasy when Jenny and Kevin separate, and Kevin is right there to help him through the pain while his body is mending...
So, yeah. I've written some pretty cruel, cracked stories but I'm not going to write that. I mean it's a cool idea and all, but it would be nothing but gratuitous heartbreak undermining the other stuff I've written. I just don't know where my head is at these days...
Anyway...
In other news, this site is clearly broken:
So, black-sluggard, your LiveJournal reveals…
You are… 2% unique (blame, for example, your interest in the smoke trilogy), 3% peculiar, 25% interesting, 39% normal and 31% herdlike (partly because you, like everyone else, enjoy writing). When it comes to friends you are normal. In terms of the way you relate to people, you are wary of trusting strangers. Your writing style (based on a recent public entry) is conventional.
Your overall weirdness is: 12
(The average level of weirdness is: 28.
You are weirder than 24% of other LJers.)
I have to assume that support for porn about zombies will be included in later versions of their code...
ETA: Not three minutes after posting this, I found out about this series coming up on NBC. Detective crime drama, and alternate realities... Just, Jesus, could that be more perfect for me?
Ten bucks says I start working on a Roach-based version of this concept before the show even airs... :/

But I have too many WIPs as it is. :(

Date: Friday, 17 February 2012 02:53 am (UTC)From:What I'm trying to do to avoid that is only allowing myself to post WIPs on LJ. I'm not allowed to post anything on FF.net or AO3 until it's finished. That way I get the instant gratification of having someone read it, but I still have incentive to actually finish. Considering I've actually managed to finish three chapter fics this way (and, Jesus, my Heroes crossover has made it to eleven chapters so far--or seventeen if you count the flashback chapters...), I like to think it's working so far...
Unfortunately, it also means I have three chapter stories in progress, in addition to one particular brain eating AU that promises to supply a never-ending supply of inspiration for demented one-shots to distract me from my other goals. :/

When it comes to friends you are popular.
Wait, what?
No, I'm not. I'm the Queen of Lonerdom.
Yep. A bit broken. But, it got me on the vampires. :P
