Anyone else been having issues with mod queues blocking posts to communities that have never moderated their posts before? I had this issue with castle_slash and castle_fic back in October. And I admit I kind of silently flipped out about it, because in the former case I waited a week to contact the absentee moderator, and it didn't seem like my story was ever going to show. Eventually, someone else posted to that comm, and I was finally able to to post there after that, and I've managed to post two more without issue, so I thought the problem was resolved.

But now it's doing it again. Anyone know what the crap is up with that?

I'm hardly part of Five-0 fandom. I've written one story, barely seen a couple episodes, and only read fic for it from time to time. Still, this post really spoke to me. I've been feeling a lot of my enthusiasm for writing begin to drain in the last year. Part of it may simply be burnout, but a lot of it has been just how quiet fandom seems to have gotten of late. I write because I love to, and because the stories that pop into my head will drive me crazy if I don't, but there are times when I feel like no one is reading, and I really begin to question why I even bother.

I really feel this challenge could benefit everybody—every fandom, every community out there. I think that just by acknowledging authors and posters whenever we can however we might be able to inject new life into the internet places we all love.

I'm going to be sharing this in the comms I am the most active in, and I encourage you to do the same.

I'm taking the Fandom Love Challenge. Will you?

Title: Ghoulies and Ghosties
Fandoms: Castle
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Romance, Horror, Angst, Fluff.
Details: Slash, genre!crack, horror elements, folklore, scary stories.
Wordcount: 1,840
Characters/Pairings: Javier Esposito/Kevin Ryan.
Summary: It's past midnight on their first Halloween together, and Kevin and Javier are finally ready to talk about it. Sort of.
(Sequel to "Trick or Treat")
Notes: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] spook_me challenge (a bit late, but not bad compared to my usual definition of "late"). Since I'd written several supernatural and horror fics in the past, I asked to be given a creature prompt instead of choosing one myself. The creature I was assigned was "bogeyman", which immediately had my mind leap back to this 'verse. So instead of an actual new story, you get a coda/sequel instead.
Also, I have to acknowledge that the scene was partially inspired by [livejournal.com profile] apodiopsys's story "Call It What You Want".

This year, they had each needed the silence—the normalcy—of a quiet night in. )

The meme:

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

So, I'm thinking of signing up for [livejournal.com profile] spook_me. I'm willing to be talked out of it, because I have a shitton of other stuff already, and I might change my mind if it turns out [livejournal.com profile] ryanandesposito is doing something for Halloween (*innocent whistle*). Not that I've clearly ever needed an excuse to write horror and weird!fic, but it's nice having more motivation to do so.

Anyway, it's multi-fandom, which means a high volume of participants, and relatively low-pressure, so I can always blow it off if I can't manage it, and who knows? Maybe something good can come from it.

With luck, the random prompt and prompt images might help me come up with something to actually do with my Weekend in Hell plotbunny. Be nice if that thing actually had a plot, you know.

[livejournal.com profile] claudiapriscus recently made a post about her (very debatable) suckitude due to her massive number of WIPs, and outlined several of them meme-style in her journal. I commented that if I tried to do a similar post, I would be writing all goddamned week...

And yet, here I am.

[livejournal.com profile] claudiapriscus:
"And that leads me to this: my list of shame. The usual memes just do sentences from WIPs, but I kind of like the idea of describing the story and the point and triyng to explain why I haven't gotten around to finishing it. It's very motivational. You all should do it too!"

My WIPs! Let me show you them! )
